The Golden Wings is a branch of the West Plains Angels (EIN:82-5062392) which was built by Tony Blount and his late wife Amy Blount in 2018. They have been providing service to our community by giving pet food and pet supplies, free of charge, to those in need of assistance. Your help and support are greatly needed to continue helping these lovely people and their pets!

There is a need for help for, not only for our community, but so many others! We have people calling every day in need of aid for their beloved furry friends, who cannot afford pet food and medication. Each month we travel over 700 miles, dropping off food at local food banks, from Malden, Washington to Elk, Washington. At each stop we gift pet food, treats, and pet supplies. We help feed over 200 pets each month.

We are fully dedicated to the mobile pet food pantry. All of us are volunteers and what we do is important! We all want to leave a legacy of service, giving and kindness.

Mobile Pet Food Pantry

It all started a week before Christmas back in 2022 when Tony Blount, co-founder of the West Plains Angels (W.P.A.), got a call from the Cheney Vet Clinic. The vet knew about a family who were being evicted and were going to let their nine cats loose out in the cold. At the time the wind chill was -10 degrees.

That day Tony was asked if he could take the cats. The clinic knew that he had done pet food drives in the past. His first thought was, “No, that’s impossible. I don’t have the space!” However, before he hung up the phone he had agreed to rescue the cats. He stayed up until 1:00 am clearing out the shed, and making space for all nine of the felines and took them home the very next day!

That one decision began a journey for Tony, who then started The Golden Wings Mobile Pet Food Pantry. After the rescue of those cats, the need for helping people and their pets became very apparent.

Throughout the years we have had several fundraising events through our parent charity, the W.P.A. We’ve hosted live auctions, silent auctions, luncheons, dinners, fashion shows, car washes, and more.

We have gifted funds, goods and services in the past to the Cheney Pantry, the E.W.U. pop-up food pantry, the Medical Lake Food Bank, Cheney VFW post 11326, the Cheney High-School band and robotics club, the Airway Heights Fire Department, and more.

Now we are solely dedicated to helping pets and their owners.
